On Monday 7th June we moved north to the Lower Hill Campsite situated next to the National Trust’s Wenlock Edge. En-route we stopped at Benthall Hall, an unusual NT property with different parts of the house reflecting it’s 500 year history – some rooms containing items from the medieval period, the industrial revolution and even the 50’s. The following day we drove into Shrewsbury an attractive old market town almost entirely surrounded by the River Severn.

We moved to this area mainly to visit Ironbridge and the many museums surrounding it. This district was at the heart of the industrial revolution that spread throughout the world. We went to Blists Hill Victorian Town, an excellent recreation of a working town of the era. There were a few areas closed due to COVID but still plenty to see. We also had time to the visit the China museum, the Tile museum and, of course, the Ironbridge itself – the first ever cast-iron bridge built in 1779.
